Does the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter work if the router is downstairs?

Question says it all. Also does the antenna have to be straight up?

It should work but your internet connection gonna be a little bad since your so far away. I reccommend buying a high-boost router antenna if your gonna have your xbox360 that far away from your router. The antenna just helps boost signal range and some good ones even help boost the speed of your internet.
