PVC pipe for compressed air line in garage?

Ive seen it done before, At shops and home garages. But how safe is it? what type of PVC do you use? And do you glue it together like normal plumber pvc?
Im thinking of plumbing my garage with PVC, But would like to hear the pros and cons first.
It seems to me that it would hold 150psi since they have a burst pressure of 400psi, But what happends if it gets pulled on or hit?

PVC can and has been used for air supply for years. First be smarter than the average bear Yogi.

Schedule 40 is fine to well over 200 psi in a 1/2" . Pressure goes down as the diameter goes up. Schedule 80 is slightly higher, but well worth the extra cost. This is the same pipe all shop air systems use.

If you are making it your self, be VERY careful in your connections and supply a relief valve, (something any mechanic should know and do). If you are worried, they have the air system for sale at many auto supply stores. The system is expensive, but it allows you to customize it to fit your needs and has all the proper connections. It is light weight aluminum in the kit, but one I saw at one store used PVC.
