ANSI, the American National Safety Institute sets up the guidelines for all ladders sold in the United States. These ANSI standards require manufacturers to build a safety factor into all ladders. A Type I 250 lb rated ladder has a safety factor of 4 built in, that means the ladder must hold at least 1000 pounds without failure on certain tests. Similar Safety factors are required on the more heavy duty ladders as well. All other ladder manufacturers use Pultruded fiberglass which is heavier than the Fiber Wound fiberglass material used on the Little Giant ladders. While the unique properties of the Ultra-Lite LittleGiant make it lighter than their previous version it is still be heavier than the Aluminum models of the same size. The "Ultra-Lite" Little Giant ladders are also more expensive.

The main reason to buy a fiberglass Little Giant ladder is its non-conductivity; they also have a greater tolerance to aggressive uses and environments. In most if not all chemical plants, oil refineries, etc. you will be required to use a non-conductive (fiberglass) ladder. These categories of facilities usually have internal regulations that may be more restrictive as to the types of ladders allowed on the site. We are seeing more and more calls for fiberglass Little Giant ladders for various applications. How do you climb a tree???? I NEED HELP!?

We have a giant tree with no lower branches in the backyard. We've tried Ropes, Ladder (which was an epic fail) and we are at wits end. HALP US!!

You just made me smile. Why the need to climb this tree anyway? We have this style where I grew up that we built a ladder or tied a pole on our way up the tree. Tie the pole from the bottom very securely around the tree. Then tied another rope three feet higher, then another three feet, then climb and tie another rope at three feet higher. Keep doing it until you tied the whole length of the pole. If you need more then start tying the second pole. But this will be the tricky part. Tie the next pole together with the first one in two points at the tip to make it secure then repeat the process. Mind you this is a very dangerous method but it works. If you're not sure about it. Hire those bucket trucks that the tree pruners are using. Be safe.
