Gaurd Rail
How should i attempt to get a gaurd railing to protect cars from going into a lake by my home?

i live by a lake. There is an area that has no railing, and is a huge hazard problem. What steps should i take to fix this deadly problem.

Depending on where you live I would contact the local or county Street/Highway maintenance department if you live on a public road. If you live in a private community, then you would need to talk to your community association. Explain the risk/danger represented by the stretch of road in question and ask them what they might be willing to do about it.

Realize that most government agencies already have a laundry list of roads that need to be repaired, upgraded, etc.. It could take a period of years for them to manage to get the guard rail you desire in their budget cycle. If any vehicles have had accidents at that location then it tends to escalate it on their priority list. If you know of any accidents there you could ask for copies of the police report from the local authorities and provide them to the road department to get them to work on it sooner.

If you are living in a private community I would recommend getting a petition signed by other community members and presenting it at your next community board meeting. Once again available funding will dictate when it could be undertaken.

A last ditch response would be if you owned the land between the lake and the road, and were willing to spend the money you could hire your own private contractor to install a suitable guardrail along your property line. I hope this was useful and that you get a guardrail soon.
